Seagate Technology PLC (STX)-Seagate in talks with party about going private.Stock surged 21 percent to $15.34. The world’s largest maker of disk drives said it’s in talks about a transaction that would take the company private, without naming the party involved. The discussions are with TPG Capital, its former owner, and another buyout firm, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Western Digital Corp. (WDC)-Share of the second-biggest disk- drive maker, gained 8.9 percent to $32.11 because of STX.
Cubist Pharmaceuticals Inc. (CBST)-Share of CBST lost 3.2 percent to $24.25. The maker of the antibiotic Cubicin reported third- quarter sales of $162.1 million, missing the average analyst estimate of $167.8 million.
J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. (JBHT)-Stock felled 0.5 percent to $35.35. The trucking company reported third-quarter earnings excluding some items of 43 cents a share, missing the average analyst estimate of 44 cents.
